Rubbermaid sent one of their new Reveal Spray Mops for me to try. I don’t pretend to be a good housekeeper, but I do try to be environmentally friendly. This mop is supposed to help with both keeping my house clean and not hurting the environment. I was definitely willing to give it a try!
Rubbermaid claims that the Reveal mop saves time and money. Upon taking the mop out of the box, the first things I noticed were the large mop head and the red mop pads. Ok, so now I understood why Rubbermaid claimed it would save time- less strokes to cover the same amount of floor space. Here is a side-by-side comparison of The Reveal Spray Mop and my Swiffer. Generally the larger size is a good thing, except when trying to get in small places (like next to the refrigerator).

swiffer vs. reveal spray mop
The mop pads were unique too- they are made of red, thick, absorbent cloth and stuck like velcro to the mop head.
Rubbermaid gave many suggestions for homemade cleaning solutions- Borax, vinegar, baking soda, concentrated cleaner, dishwashing soap, sanitizing solutions, or just plain hot water. I filled up the bottle to the appropriate line with warm water and then added 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. I popped the bottle in the holder, fastened the mop pad into place, and I was ready! Simple enough- even I could do it!

The mop works well. It has a comfortable grip handle and is easy to maneuver. The spray is up enough from the floor that it sprays a large, wide area. It’s difficult to tell how much dirt is being cleaned because the mop pad is dark red instead of white (like it’s competitors) but that’s not a big deal.
The best part about the Reveal Spray Mop is that it is a one-time purchase. Nothing extra to buy! The pads are machine washable and YOU make the cleaning solution.

I love my Reveal Spray Mop and hopefully it will encourage me to actually clean more (ha ha).
