Purex has created a new detergent especially for washing baby clothes. With the tagline “Gentle on Baby’s Skin. Tough on Baby’s Messes.” Purex gives you another choice when shopping for something to clean your baby’s clothes.
According to their site:
“You want the best for your baby, and so do we. Purex Baby detergent is hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested and formulated to be extra gentle on your little one’s sensitive skin. Purex Baby detergent leaves your baby’s clothes smelling fresh and clean, and won’t harm the flame resistance of sleepwear.”
The first thing that I did when I received my 50oz bottle of Purex Baby is open it up and smell it. Isn’t that the first thing you would do? In my mind all babies need to have a certain smell and a part of that awesome smell has to do with the detergent their clothes are washed in. Purex Baby didn’t pass the smell test. I can’t explain it. It’s not stink, but it’s not a baby smell. It’s kind of… industrial. I can’t think of another word to describe it.
Next, I washed a load of baby clothes and I think it works just as well as my Purex Free & Clear (which I use to wash the toddler’s clothes since she has eczema). It gets the smell of baby spit up out and that’s what counts. It gets baby stains like poop out if you wash it shortly after the stain occurs, for set-in poop stains, I recommend tossing some Oxi Clean in along with the Purex Baby- that does the trick for me.
